About relaxsong.com
A quiet patch of sky with calm music in it. No account, no ads, nothing to sign up for.
The music
Purrple Cat is a solo lofi project that started in December 2018 with the album Up All Night. Since then: 500+ songs, 500M+ streams and 425K followers. Mostly instrumental, warm and unhurried, and every self-released record is free to use under CC BY 4.0.
This site holds the 108 calmest instrumental songs from 28 self-released Purrple Cat records, 5 h 4 min in all. Each one was scored mostly on its Spotify-style audio features (low energy, acoustic feel, low danceability, slower tempo and lower loudness), plus our own measurements of how soft its attacks are, how steady its level is and how warm it sounds, and only the calmest made it into the sky.
The sky
Each cloud is a song. Its speed comes from the song’s pace, so the slowest songs drift slowest, and the sky takes its colours from the cover of whatever is playing. The sky keeps drifting when you change page, just like the music.
Stay and Lie back
Stay loops the song that’s playing for 15, 30 or 60 minutes, then fades out. Lie back hides everything except the sky and the song title. Press Esc or tap anywhere to come back.
Questions
What is a relax song?
Any song that helps you slow down. The ones that tend to work are slow, soft, steady and fairly predictable: no sudden jumps in volume, no sharp attacks, nothing that grabs your attention. Every song on this site was measured for those things.
Are these songs free?
Yes. Stream them here or download them as MP3, free. They are licensed CC BY 4.0, so you can use them in videos and streams with credit too.
Can I use a relax song in my YouTube video or stream?
Yes, with credit, on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, Facebook, X and other social media, livestreams included.
Do the songs have lyrics?
No. Everything here is instrumental, so nothing pulls your attention towards words.
Is this music made with AI?
No.
How were the songs ranked?
Mostly from each song’s Spotify-style audio features: lower energy, a more acoustic sound, less danceability, a slower tempo and a lower volume all count as calmer. The rest comes from our own measurements of how soft the attacks are, how steady the level is and how warm the sound is, compared with every other Purrple Cat song. It’s a measurement of calm, not a medical claim.
Why are the songs clouds?
Because lying on your back and watching clouds is about the most relaxing thing a person can do for free. Each cloud is a song, and slower songs drift more slowly.
